We are finalising our plans to build 26 new homes at 444 Barking Road. The site is currently used as a car wash and lies at the corner junction of Barking Road and Park Avenue.
It was originally built as a filling station, but that business closed in 1977. Since then, it's been has been mostly occupied as a car rental business - Europcar were established for many years before leaving in 2018.
Here you can see photos of the existing site:

The site is surrounded by buildings that are mainly homes, with shops facing onto Barking Road, as well as a day nursery located opposite the site.

Our proposal is to demolish the garage and workshop currently on the site so we can build a new four to five storey residential building of 26 homes. There will also be 50 cycle spaces and a green amenity area outside.
Here you can find the artists’ impressions of how the building will look once it is completed:

There will be nine one-bed flats, eight two-bed flats and nine three-bed flats. There will be shared amenity space, waste and cycle storage as well as the green area outside.

Parking Spaces
The proposed development is to be car-free, meaning residents will not be eligible for parking permits apart from the Blue Badge provision. However, we are providing 50 cycle spaces.
